Hi, newb here, but old MERP player from the days of yore.

Going to introduce my boys to RPGs using AiME - one question, where does the career progression for Moria start? At lvl 1? Or is this for more advanced PC's?

Just wondering if I should hold off on starting the Mirkwood campaign for this Moria set, or will it be easily thematically incorporated into the Mirkwood campaign?

I know, anything is possible via the LM's creativity, just wondering on the actual ink on paper part.

Thanks!

Hi, Byrne.

I'm not sure anything has been said as to the contents of this box set. I don't even know if there's an adventure included to tell the truth or when it is due for release. I'm sure they said one book for TOR and one book for AiME stats so I guess that could indicate there's an adventure or campaign, otherwise I wouldn't think a few NPC stat blocks would require their own book but again I don't believe much information has been provided as to the specifics of the content of this box set.

Though I'm happy to be shown I'm wrong because I'd love some more details.

For some reason I completely missed this image of the Moria box set when it was posted back in JanuaryImage

No we don't, although most of us would think it pretty cool if it was.

oh snap it's on!

Durin's bane clearly has shadows that stretched like wings, which are later referred to as wings.

Whether or not these are indeed actual wings doesn't matter much since if they do have wings they are clearly flightless since two Balrogs we know of had trouble with falling from great heights.

So I see two options: Not physical wings but shadow wings or flightless physical wings that perhaps allow the Balrogs to move at great speed but not fly as referenced in the Silmarillion (I suppose somewhat like flightless birds have) made of some kind of tangible shadow.

The net effect is the same either way.
