Now they're saying it could be north of $1 billion...
Yup! That article is based on the one from The Hollywood Reporter that I brought up yesterday.
"Far, far below the deepest delvings of the Dwarves, the world is gnawed by nameless things. Even Sauron knows them not. They are older than he."

More news and opinions:

Forbes came out with their own article that follows up on the one from THR: Amazon's Potentially Billion Dollar 'Lord of the Rings' Show Sounds Absolutely Insane.

New Zealand's stuff reports: Sir Peter Jackson could be joining Amazon's billion-dollar Lord of the Rings TV series.

Breaking news from TORN's Twitter feed:
[BREAKING] We have confirmed from multiple sources that @AmazonStudios new billion-dollar #LOTR series will open its first season centered on a young Aragorn.
Presumably an official announcement will be forthcoming soon including more details.

A young Aragorn.

Let's hope its like the Shannara TV show with gorgeous looking you men and women filling their dialogue with liberal uses of the words "like" and "innit" and the upward inflection of the Australian Question Intonation for even more added verisimilitude.

I can't wait.

We have/had a Young Indiana Jones series, a Young Superman series,... why not a Young Aragorn one? :)

I thought Valley Girls invented that.

I mean,

I thought, like, Valley Girls? invented that?

Like, I don't think so? It was, like, Neighbours innit that did it?

There seems to be disagreement on the origins:

I just hope they will introduce a true multi-ethnic cast this time, it's disgusting how Middle-Earth is like a white gentlemen's club. Everybody is white, most of them are men, and anything to do with 'black' is evil, right? In this day and age, that sort of thing is just not right.
