Compatability

Post by ZenoForce88 » Thu Feb 18, 2016 11:33 am

I have Victoriana 2 and 3e, as well as the Abney Park Airship Pirates game lines, and was wondering how cross compatible they were. Like could the drinking rules, and Airship rules from Airship Pirates, be used in Victoriana, as well as how easily you can use 2e marital with the newer 3e.

They are very compatible by design.

3e simplifies a few things, most notably it's easier to cast spells and we've done away with dice modifiers (difficulties are all handled with black dice).

Supporting character stat blocks are also streamlined, using just three stats. The only thing you'll have to assign is the cogs for the Celestial Engine, but even that can be ignored (just assume that it's 0, or Harmony).

We've changed the world background a bit, but you can decide whether to stick with the 1867-ish world or the new 1856 one. In most cases it doesn't really matter.

Rather then start a new thread, as this....i guess technically, would count as part of Compatability, I'll just ask it here.

Would it really hurt anything, balance wise, if the Celestial Engine aspect of the game was just completely ignored, and simply removed as a mechanic in the game?

Nope, it was designed to be hot-swappable.

You might also want to look at the Queensberry version; it's more simplified.
