Ideas for medium effect for performance

So I gave one of my players a magical instrument artifact and am having a hard time coming up with some ideas to suggest for medium effects. One of the big purposes of music after all is to influence people's emotions after all, which is a large effect. Small is easy enough, and large there is plenty of potential... Suggestions for medium effects?
