Adventure ideas in The Great Sadi Desert

Post by RobertF » Tue Aug 01, 2017 4:05 pm

The southern continent of Magnamund contains a vast, thinly populated desert, The Great Sadi Desert. The desert is nominally ruled over by Shasarak the Wytch-king and is home to ~80,000 Sadi Nomads, plus two permanent settlements (Sadi Oasis and Dangh) according to the Maps of Magnamund Collection.

Any ideas for adventures in this virtually unexplored region that you'd like to share?

While visiting Seroa, the capital of the Kingdom of Siyen, the player characters overhear rumors that an evil wizard practicing the dark arts has established a secret base deep in the Sadi Desert, far from prying eyes. The wizard has gathered a band of followers: Sadi bandits and mercenaries, and has been raiding caravans for supplies and gold.

Some whisper the wizard is in fact a renegade Nadziran or Black Sorceror that schemes to create a new Shadow Gate to summon an army of demons to rival its former masters in the Darklands. Others say it is a Cener Druid, performing his foul experiments on captured Sadi tribesmen. The rumors are dismissed as hearsay by most, but with some persistence the players ought to find a trader or caravan guard who has more information.

Either the Khashan Mts or Lost Siu Mts both would be perfect locations for a "hex crawl" exploration adventure through the desert, followed by the discovery of the wizard's fortress or underground lair in the mountains.

Could be a lost Shianti city buried under the shifting sands, maybe someone wants to go find it.
