There does seem to be some confusion regarding 0 being a good result in combat with the Knight of the White Mountain pledge.
For the basic level, you can choose a 9 on the combat results table. On its own that might still work- you could roll better, but its very unlikely. However, the Mastered pledge says that you can treat 0,1,2s as a 3. This then implies that the 9 value is also wrong as the creator of the ability seems to be assuming that 9 is the highest result possible, while 0 is the lowest, like every other result in the rules.

So perhaps the values should be changed. My take would be to add 1 to all those numbers, treating 0 as 10. So the basic ability allows you to choose a 0, and the Mastered version treats any value less than 4 (1,2 and 3) as 4 instead. Interestingly the Penetrate spell (Magician of Dessi) and Pirates Luck (Buccaneer of Shadaki) also allows you to choose a 9 instead of rolling. Perhaps that should also be a 0 instead?
