Can't find spells

Post by VenomousFiligree » Fri Jun 26, 2015 9:57 pm

Ok, looks like I'm missing something here, so can someone please point me in the right direction! :)

I'm reading through The Curse of Nineveh and trying to find spell descriptions. I've tried to find two spells now - Bind Enemy and Candle Communications and can't find them in either The Curse of Nineveh, Cthulhu Britannica: London, or COC 7e.

Anyone now where they ae?

Without doing any checking the Candle Communications spell is probably found in HotOE as it's used there. I suspect that Paul and the other authors of 7e went through the supplements and gathered all the various spells from old supplements and put them into the new volume which is probably where you'll find these two.

Edit: CC is certainly in 6e p223 and BE is in 6e p220

Curse of Nineveh is a 7e product I believe. So I have spells listed that I don't have references for?

Are you sure it's 7e as most 7e specific products were embargoed until Chaosium had released 7e and only in the last few weeks has that embargo been lifted after the takeover at Chaosium.

Edit: Checking back in the playtest documents I used for the 7e playtests I see that Bind Enemy is listed for one of them with details so I expect it is in the 7e rules.

The latest version of the 7e Keepers Rulebook was sent out a few weeks ago to backers. I cannot find either of them in that book.

Sorry I can't help you then. Perhaps one of the C7 guys will see this thread and post come Monday.

I checked with Paul Fricker and he responded that he didn't think either spell is in 7e so you'll need to take the issue up with C7 tomorrow. Presumably they'l have an explanation or post errata.

Much like Cthulhu Britannica: London, The Curse of Nineveh was written for Call of Cthulhu 7e, but it was written while the latest edition was in production so we were working from draft documents supplied to us by Chaosium - hence a couple of the spells that were in those draft docs did not make it into the finished version!

I'll see if we can post the text - or at least the jist - from those spells, but in the meantime I don't think their absence will affect how the campaign plays.

Andrew, I have the text of Bind Enemy in a 7e playtest document so can offer that if you can't find another source.

Thanks Hermes - it's not so much about finding a source as reposting another company's copyrighted material online!
