Warhammer Age of Sigmar Roleplaying Game Announced!
Games Workshop and Cubicle 7 Entertainment have announced the Warhammer Age of Sigmar Roleplaying Game, for release in 2018.
Warhammer Age of Sigmar is Games Workshop’s epic tale of heroes, gods and monsters fighting a desperate battle for the fate of the Mortal Realms.
Dominic McDowall, Cubicle 7 CEO said, “The Warhammer Age of Sigmar setting is fantasy at its most imaginative. The Mortal Realms are fascinating, highly evocative and hold endless possibilities for roleplaying. I am enormously excited to explore them with the Warhammer Age of Sigmar Roleplaying Game!”
This news follows Cubicle 7’s announcement of the fourth edition of Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay for release in 2017. These two games will be independent game lines with different rulesets.

Well, At least now I understand why GW allowed WFRP 4th to be in the old world...

I'm happy for C7 as I expect this will increase revenue and market share.
And I expect there are several people who will be very excited for this announcement.
I personally have never been super excited about AoS.
I hope C7 has some solid plan to handle the awesomeness they are about to unleash. WFRP, AoS, TOR, AiME... They are all lines that deserve major resources and focus. (TOR and WFRP are my favorites, so I certainly hope they get lots of attention).
Time to hire some more staff C7!
This is a great time to be a C7 fan!

Age of Sigmar has been in desperate need of world building. The whole thing was such a poor, desperate rushed attempt at shoehorning Not-Space Marines into a fantasy 'verse that ended up about as well as expected. I'd definietly trust a company like Cubicle 7 to do a far better job with GW's IP than I would Games Workshop themselves (similar to how FFG's 40k content was superior to the nonsense being pumped out by its parent).
I look forward to seeing what comes of it.

Absolutely! I am quite happy for this announcement as well. On one hand, I'm kind of curious what kind of ruleset and worldbuilding will the guys develop. But the biggest win is that the Old World WFRP line can stay oldschool but more streamlined while the AoS line can please the fans who want something new.
Stellar job C7!

Certainly i hope something new about Warhammer, i found old world too cliché. Yes i know that has a grim twist, but many things are from others authors like MoreCook.

Interesting. I'm curious about the choice to use a different system than the one used for WHFRP 4e. I guess no one will be doing a campaign detailing the end of the Old World via the End Times to the beginning of the Age of Sigmar.
With all these massive properties to juggle, I hope C7 has enough employees to handle them!

Great news! I wanted this so much since the AoS launched! Thank you, C7!
I think it's very good the rulesets for AoSR and 4e will be different so they can better reflect those two different worlds. WH 4e as gritty and more realistic fantasy setting, while AoS as uber-cool-over-the-top-high-epic fantasy with cinematic flavour. Oh, I sooo cannot wait for both.

Sigmarines....
Out of pure curiosity why 2 different rule-sets?

The start was beyond rough. Oh boy it was. Still, the newer stuff is worth the bad beginning. AoS is shaping to be more than "sigmarines": the kharadron overlords and their aerial fleets, the whole death alliance and the people of shysh. Sylvaneth, Ironjawz's lore too.Ironbreaker wrote: ↑Sat May 27, 2017 4:41 pmAge of Sigmar has been in desperate need of world building. I personally hope we can do a bit of a mix: from humble like ratcatchers in hammerhal, to middling characters like questors, privateeers to something big like necromancers in a race for power and supremacy as they build undead empires and try to climb their way to the ranks of the Mortarchs. Maybe cover something regarding Shadespire, that place is becomming a huge weirdness magnet.
Maybe even mechanics for reforging (ie: regarding your origins, like liberators being mainly civilians who took arms in a desperate last stands when they were pushed past their breaking point and tried to save their beloved ones)
