Re: [Tale of Years] The Fellowship of the Free (Spoilers)

Fantastic summary, and the previous comments are spot-on: intense was exactly the word I would use to describe it! Well done! Having images/drawings of the characters really helps when visualizing these PCs that we as readers don't know very well. So when Grimbold fell I was like "NOOOO!!!" That wa...

Re: Introductions and Tolerance

Going to riff off of a couple of points made by you and Stormcrow, SurrenderMonkey... My concern has specifically to do with the rules for Tolerance and if they have any real bearing on play. It does in rare circumstances; for instance, I can see it being critical in the Encounter with Raenar the Dr...

Re: [Tale of Years] The Fellowship of the Free (Spoilers)

Wow, that was quite an epic battle at Celduin. I was really glad to see how it happened, because reading through it initially seemed really intense. Wasn’t sure how well characters might handle it, but it seemed to go well. You're right, it was intense so I'm glad that has come across in my write-u...

Re: Introductions and Tolerance

That said, I don't believe my players ever ended up failing an Encounter... This seems to be a common observation, which suggests to me a weakness in the RAW. Why put rules in the way of play for something that generates no suspense or interest? Outright failure (ie, using up Tolerance) then I have...

Re: Updated player's map?

No, there isn't. Best you can do is edit your own copy or make your own map. I have an electronic copy that I update using Powerpoint (to each their own!) and then share as a pdf with my players. I used to have a large printed out version of the map and just let the players make notes on it. People ...

Re: Valour and Fear

If you take a look at the first issue of Hall of Fire, there's a pretty good article on Fear in it that you can easily use or tailor/tweak for your own campaign. Within those rules, it has different results based on how much the fear test is failed by; some I don't agree with but others fit. I recom...

Re: TOR and your RPG group -- problems, solutions?

Lets take some of your comments in a slightly different order... When I told them it was suggested that combat only occur once every two sessions or so it definitely sent off some alarm bells, but they seem satisfied so far that they still get to chuck dice often enough in other situations. For star...

Gotcha. I misunderstood what you were meaning but that makes sense.

Ruined what could have been the best 5 seconds of the movie.

Re: [Tale of Years] The Fellowship of the Free (Spoilers)

Any thoughts on my campaign, Glor? Happy to provide further input/insight if you or others need it. I'm going to split the Crossings of Celduin into two parts; it's such an epic adventure. Just realized I never responded to this question. I've been popping in on this thread but I actually want to r...

Re: [Tale of Years] The Fellowship of the Free (Spoilers)

One final post/adventure and that's it. Wonder how my players and their PCs will get on with what is an incredibly dangerous scenario... :?
