Re: Sauron Rune on Corruption Test

Really, I think we just agreed around the table, that it did not seem intended for Corruption tests as well and by that reasoning we defined it as common skills only... Ah, right. That's understandable, sort of, but I wouldn't do the same. However, don't forget that Common Skills used in combat sho...

Re: Sauron Rune on Corruption Test

I would disagree on this, because Eye Awareness only increases after EoS on common skills tests. So never on Wisdom or Valour tests. However, all increases in Shadow adds to the Eye awareness. Success with an EoS on a corruption test would not increase the Eye... Cheers The text says the following:...

Re: Sauron Rune on Corruption Test

Does rolling a Sauron rune (along with a failed roll) on a corruption test have any other affect beyond gaining temporary Shadow? Do you gain *more* shadow? Perhaps something to draw on but the consequences for failing a Corruption Hazard during a journey are: Gain 1 Shadow, or 2 Shadow on an EYE. ...

Alright. At this point I'm not sure that much more will be accomplished than folks agreeing to disagree, rather than continuing on this path...
A-men to that. My response above cross posted with yours, Zed. I'm done with this daft debate.

Re: Treasure

The standard of living of each culture is absolutely implied within the rules of replacing war gear as the character is still acquiring items through a transaction, albeit automatic ones; villages/town/etc do not simply give away gear to anyone who passes by. If you cannot see that then I don't know...

Re: Treasure

Your interpretation is the same as mine. Appreciate the confirmation, thanks. Always a bit leery about stepping in halfway through an online discussion. Its not the same as a real conversation, so I don't think it's rude, but I also don't want to tread on other peoples' toes - however hairy they ma...

Re: Treasure

...however, an adventurer might still be personally reduced to the status of Poor. And the information on such a standard of living explicitly states they do not have the resources for adventuring equipment. In other words the rules around the replacement of lost war gear infer that the items lost ...

Re: Treasure

Okay, but according to RAW, replacing lost or damaged weapons and armor is not dependent on a hero's Standard of Living and can normally be accomplished during the Adventuring phase. ... Because there's no such thing within the RAW as a PC with a Poor living standard so there's no need within the R...

Re: Treasure

Let's forget about the problem of acquiring starting equipment for a moment. Assuming that our hypothetical Poor hero did manage to scrape together starting gear to begin with, what are your thoughts about his being able to replace lost or damaged war gear at his original Standard of Living? That's...

Re: [Tale of Years] The Fellowship of the Free (Spoilers)

Adventuring Phase: The Journey North Early Spring 2950 Travelling north the company pass the haunted wood of Lorien and the ruined gardens, now known as the Brown Lands; a desolate, wind-torn and broken place; at one point passing among what appears to be a Stone Garden where grief and sorrow weigh...
