Lord have mercy, for I started a discussion about plate armor in Middle earth.
Shields shall be splintered and armour (of some indeterminate type) shall be dented.

Re: Legendary ME Weapons

Note that each improvement by visiting the Market-pool can be selected only twice, and an upgrade can be for to-hit OR damage. So a weapon obtained there could be +1/+1, +2/+0, or +0/+2 after both upgrades.

I'm not certain that the smiths of Lake-town can improve upon the working of the Dwarves.

Re: A Gondor book?

Thorin and companions are said to have shining armour, but its exact form is not given. The Southron wears a 'corselet of overlapping brazen plates'. Imrahil and his knights are wearing 'full harness' as already alluded to, and bearing 'gilded banners'. — • — I would not say that there is definitive...

Re: A Gondor book?

Well, if you're talking about medieval knights, then yes, full harness means full plate. But you're right... full harness could (at other times) mean full body mailed or scale armour or what-not. That's why my original answer is 'go not to Zed for answers for he will both say yay and nay.' If you wa...

Re: A Gondor book?

Well, Prince Imrahil's knights are mentioned to be arrayed in 'full harness' and he himself is the possessor of that famous burnished vambrance. So one could make an argument that those two things put together might hint at plate or at least what some might call half-plate. But it can be argued othe...

Re: Treasure

OK... So it sounds like I've been making this way harder than I needed to. War gear basically gets hand waived. Lose a sword? No problem. Break your shield? No worries. Want to stay at a nice inn? Well, then you better check your SoL , or have friends with a good SoL or someone needs treasure to ra...

Re: [Adventure] Building The Heart of Winter

Just wanted to put in that I'm going to be running The Theft of the Moon in the evenings at a Tolkien Studies academic conference in June. Very much looking forward to the whole "Heart of Winter" whenever it's out. Cool! I presume that's Mythmoot? I would have loved to attend, but logistics made it...

Lego Miniatures

I know I'm guilty of often going straight to the forum and not checking the front page, so I would have missed this if it wasn't pointed out... someone made fantastic versions of the example characters in Lego:

Re: Removing Conditions (Clarification)

Most things that create a condition should come with a way to remove that condition. For example, an Attercop's poison might require a hero to take a short rest to remove the Poisoned condition. Goblin poison lasts for only one minute. Scholars also can remove conditions, per their rules. There migh...
