These rolls wouldn't contribute toward counting successes, which is usually about the Loremaster character being impressed with the player-heroes. The character isn't going to be more impressed because of secret counsels of heroes they never speak to. I went ahead and tweaked my answer to 'might', ...

The XP award symbols are optional opportunies for Experience Points and not directly tied to combat. So you might award only the XP from defeating Greymuzzle Hob; only the optional XP for saving Rowanhold (if the Company does something clever that means that they will face Hob again another day) or ...

The hardcover core rules are the latest, the softcover rules were part of the original slipcase. There’s an update file, indicating what changes in the game resources section of the website.
