Re: Getting poisoned through armour

But what happens to a poisoned character who is poisoned again? Since being poisoned does not mean "getting wounded" my reading is that nothing additional happens; the hero is already considered to be wounded (and needs to be actually Wounded to drop). A different reading, where getting Poisoned eq...

Re: What do you expect or want in a Gondor source book?

Thus, I'm writing a chronicle that starts the companions in that area and am converting adventures from TOR , D&D (gasp), et al: they'll tangle with everything from Corsairs, to smugglers, to Orcs from Isengard (and the whole can of worms that opens up about revealing Saruman :o ), to the Dark Men ...

Re: Frár's Beard (...or Lack Thereof.)

Well, I would also concur with the opinion that Dwarf beards probably grow a lot more slowly than human beards. Otherwise it wouldn't be very difficult to grow them long, and they wouldn't have much pride in them. So he might have been effectively beardless for months/years. I also went with this i...

Re: Advancement points when Hope is used

Thanks everyone!
One of those 'self-imagined' rules that I would have sworn to have read somewhere!

Advancement points when Hope is used

I had the idea that no APs are gained if a skill check is succeeded thanks to the expenditure of Hope. But upon checking the rules, I can't find such mention. Page 212 explains how APs are gained. Maybe a very literal reading could point out that text says 'When a hero succeeds in a roll using a Com...

Re: Litteracy in Middle-Earth?

Also, I'd distinguish between at least two grades of "literacy": the academic one and the useful one. Elves, high standing dwarves, nobles and sages of Gondor,... will probably be able to write and read long and complicated texts about nearly anything, or at least according to their intelligence lev...

Radaghast,
It always reminds me of "Gormenghast" [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gormenghast_(series)].

Re: Best order of the adventure books

Although Ruins of the North in its entirety would be tricky to integrate with Tales and Darkening, without it feeling like a lot of bouncing back and forth over the length and breadth of Middle-earth as Rich says, I think the scenario "Nightmares of Angmar" from that collection could integrate pret...

Re: Best order of the adventure books

Horse-lords of Rohan has lots of adventure hooks that are not exploited in Oaths of the Riddermark. So Oaths can be run as is developing its own plot, and you can add side-quests as you see fit from the ideas of Horse-lords.

Re: Defense of Dale at the Quays

...and that's why Dale has the only Thieve's Guild of all Middle-earth! :D Also, while we look at a cities defenses from an "adventurer's" point of view (the first thing we think is about plunder, stealing and storming the city), the vast majority of people that come to a town aren't masses of thiev...
