Re: Now live on Kickstarter: Unspeakable Sigil and Sign

Kind of in the same boat. I love the idea of a supplement/Game focusing on the cultists (high and low), those that should be the main (or the bulk of the) villain encountered by the investigators - rather than any Mythos Beast. But the truth is, the fct it's using a different system which doesn't s...

Re: Legendary ME Weapons

They must have changed things. Most parties have truck loads of +3 weapons by the time they reach 7-10 levels in D&D. That is an awful lot of legendary weapons floating around out there. BTB, do they not still have the Holy Avenger for the Paladin? +5 wasn't it? At the risk of naming another product...

Re: Legendary ME Weapons

Well, you can have a cut off at +4 or +5, just to give them a legendary feel, and still keep the leveling up.

Re: Generations and Levels in 'Darkening of Mirkwood' Campaign

I don't know if this is so, but it was not always the case. AD&D did have a mechanic for the aging of characters where abilities mostly began to diminish as a character approached his later years. I did not realize that this had been done away with. It may have been there in 2e (not sure because I ...

Re: Now live on Kickstarter: Unspeakable Sigil and Sign

To be honest, I don't see the attraction to this. However, I'm glad it was successful. Good luck with the new line.

Re: Generations and Levels in 'Darkening of Mirkwood' Campaign

I agree with pretty much everything that has been said above. And to just add my own 2 cents. IRC, most of the Cultures of Man in ME start adventuring somewhere between 16 and 20 years. Now, if I also remember correctly DoM campaign represents about 30 years of game play. That would make a Man chara...

Re: Legendary ME Weapons

IMO, that is a matter of interpretation. Does it actually say in 5E anywhere that hitting a target is not an ability roll? Yes. Ability Checks , page 174 of Player's Handbook: "An ability check tests a character’s or monster’s innate talent and training in an effort to overcome a challenge. The DM ...

Re: Legendary ME Weapons

From P. 127 of the LMG "Artefact Bonus The bearer of a Wondrous Artefact enjoys a bonus to all ability checks made using the corresponding skill. • The Artefact Bonus is equal to the hero’s Proficiency Bonus." That's the + to ability checks, not the + to Hit and Damage rolls. IMO, that is a matter ...

Re: What Classes are the Fellowship and Thorin & Co.?

I don't really remember Tolkien going into too much depth on how most characters were armed; with the exception of Narsil, Glamdring, and Orcrist. There wasn't much mention of how the soldiers at Helm's Deep were armed, for instance. I think Tolkein just took it for granted that Thorin's Company wou...
