Re: Favourite Place in Middle-earth

Even though my favourite culture is Rohan. My favourite locals would be either Rivendell or Minas Tirith, as they are both places renown Houses of Learning.

I thought the stirrup was needed for a couched lance.

Did the Alan's have stirrups?
To be honest I'm not sure. I know the first that I really heard about couching the "lance" was in connection with the Norman Cavalry.

Re: Lance and Riders of Rohan

From the depictions of The Rohirrim that I have seen over the years they were based on the Saxon, with a little of Norman cultural added in as well (primarily the horse). Neither of the Normans or Saxons used the lance, per se, they used a thrusting spear.

Re: Anduin Width?

I believe that the Anduin can be forded at the Carrock. And there was once a bridge at the Old Ford, but no longer. And at the Falls of Rauros, travelers must portage up or down the North Stair before continuing on the river, but I think that goes beyond the question you are asking. I would guess t...

Re: Anduin Width?

I seem to remember reading that the width varies considerably along its course. Correct me if I am wrong, but are there not fording points in places where it can be crossed fairly easily on foot without a bridge?

Re: Now live on Kickstarter: Unspeakable Sigil and Sign

Kind of in the same boat. I love the idea of a supplement/Game focusing on the cultists (high and low), those that should be the main (or the bulk of the) villain encountered by the investigators - rather than any Mythos Beast. But the truth is, the fct it's using a different system which doesn't s...

Re: Legendary ME Weapons

They must have changed things. Most parties have truck loads of +3 weapons by the time they reach 7-10 levels in D&D. That is an awful lot of legendary weapons floating around out there. BTB, do they not still have the Holy Avenger for the Paladin? +5 wasn't it? At the risk of naming another product...

Re: Legendary ME Weapons

Well, you can have a cut off at +4 or +5, just to give them a legendary feel, and still keep the leveling up.

Re: Generations and Levels in 'Darkening of Mirkwood' Campaign

I don't know if this is so, but it was not always the case. AD&D did have a mechanic for the aging of characters where abilities mostly began to diminish as a character approached his later years. I did not realize that this had been done away with. It may have been there in 2e (not sure because I ...
