Re: Your personal wishlist for TOR books

My first thought about Mordor is to wonder how much there is to say (at least about the northern parts). “It’s blasted and poisoned and rugged and there are lots of orcs. Plus a volcano and two towers. And a spider.” But if those blank areas could be creatively filled in with locations and character...

Re: AiMe Characters and the Balrog

Arguing on Internet forums about whether or not Balrogs have wings. (I have my suspicions about his username.)

Re: AiMe Characters and the Balrog

There's also another interpretation of the First Age that is more akin to Greek mythology. All those tales of people soloing Balrogs is kind of like Hercules slaying Hydras. The story grows with the telling. In any event, in terms of 5e action economy and 1 Balrog vs. many Murderhobos: don't make th...

Re: The Twice-baked Honey Cake conundrum

Fair point! The Virtue should still be desireable enough for a player to get. So I would personally say that any non-virtue twice baked honey cake’s should be less effective or very expensieve. If the PC are actually able to find a Beorning (or maybe only Beorn) and beeing able to be compelling/con...

Re: Your personal wishlist for TOR books

Personally, I'd love to see a compiled book of adversaries that collects all the foes from the core rules and supplements--plus a some new ones--into a single text. I've got a lot of them printed out and tucked into the back of my campaign notebook, but I'd love a collated and organized volume to h...

Re: The Twice-baked Honey Cake conundrum

This is entirely personal preference and you (and everybody) can LM however they like, but personally the only circumstance under which I would ever make Honey Cakes available (outside of a Beorning having the virtue) is if having Beorn himself give them to the party were a major part of the narrati...

Re: Getting poisoned through armour

The character who says "I'm already poisoned, I might as well charge through the spiders!" risks getting an actual Wound. Which, since he is "considered Wounded", would be bad. As LM, I might further rule that a character who did that might be subject to additional attacks from angry, swarming spide...

Edit: My take on Trolls is that they are not clever enough to deal in anything other than literal interpretation.
Same here.

Re: Are you gaming against Canon and if so how?

... When I add things to the setting I am shooting for what I think Tolkien was aiming it in that essay about Faery. So I have a lot of elements that were never mentioned in the story, but that fit a faery tale kind of logic. ... My version of Eriador is more populated than the official version - t...
