Re: Converting MERP Levels to AIM/5e Levels for My Upcoming Campaign

One bummer with statting out the bigwigs of the setting is that the PCs could, in theory, surpass their Patrons. This has happened in my game, where the Envoy to King Thranduil is now like Level 18! :o Not that this is really a problem , per se. I'll probably move some of those major characters of t...

Re: Adventure Summaries (Spoilers)

The first part of our adventure last Friday was appended to the summary from last time. They find a hoard in the creature’s lair, which contains ancient items, relics, and much gold. The company gathers it up and returns to Rivendell, where they spend months identifying the artifacts. They then jour...

Re: Frár's Beard (...or Lack Thereof.)

One entire subclass was known as the Longbeards, too. Did they get that name because they already had the highest status? Or was it more that they got to grow their beards longer than the others because of their place in society?

Re: Fate of Goblin slaves - a moral dilemma

Another great way to view Shadow points is to think about Frodo and his journey to Mount Doom. Or even Samwise. Frodo didn't make a ton of "wrong" decisions along the way, where he was doing "bad" things (killing, looting, and stealing his way across Middle-earth). But going through places like The ...

Re: What do you expect or want in a Gondor source book?

Thus, I'm writing a chronicle that starts the companions in that area and am converting adventures from TOR , D&D (gasp), et al: they'll tangle with everything from Corsairs, to smugglers, to Orcs from Isengard (and the whole can of worms that opens up about revealing Saruman :o ), to the Dark Men ...

I can kill rats in the basement in any setting, with any system. (And somehow it's still fun, too.)
Just no killing rats in the basement of a brothel, though, right? ;)

Re: Tell me about your Magic Items!

It's not just your everyday Orcs that become too easy. My characters have played all the way through Tales and we're almost done with Darknening. They've each received really strong magical weapons and armor. They now are able to (quite easily) slay Dragons, they just killed the Werewolf of Mirkwood...

Re: Werewolf of Mirkwood's Regeneration

After an epic night of playing, the only thing I wish I'd done differently is to throw TWO Ringwraiths at them (instead of one). You'd think the forces they ended up fighting: The Werewolf of Mirkwood (with the higher stats and the best of both versions), the Lieutenant of Dol Guldur (Dark and Uncla...

Re: Werewolf of Mirkwood's Regeneration

I see now that the Werewolf is scaled WAY down in version 2. Stats are down, way less HP, etc.

I think I'm going to leave most of that as originally published, as my group is very, very strong.

They'll not only be facing this beast, but I will probably throw a Nazgul or two at them as well.
