Re: Mundane Rewards

Weapons and items with small houseruled bonuses are perfectly OK if you introduce them in moderation and you're not afraid that your players would stack or abuse them ("I would remind you, kind Loremaster, that my Beeswax Bowstring of the Beornings along with Bardish Bracer of Bowcraft, combined wit...

Re: Converting High Elves of Rivendell

High Elves (by the narrowest definition) have dwelt in Aman and seen the light of the Two Trees. That gives them a spiritual component that is unmatched among other Elves or any other race of Middle-earth. I am well aware of that, I was not asking about how it was portrayed in Tolkien's works, but ...

Re: Mundane Rewards

Beeswax bowstring of the Beornings Absolutely love that :) Page 36 of LMG gives plenty of ideas for mundane items giving small bonuses to checks or attributes. Generally I would stay with such upgrades - bonus +1 will be enough for a first prize in a contest on a travelling fair (such item is worth...

Re: Converting High Elves of Rivendell

Ok, I have not played TOR and I do not know if in that system Elves of Rivendell are somehow stronger (in game terms) than Mirkwood elves, so, I have two questions: 1) I do understand consistence in converting rules from TOR to AiME, but in aspect of balance, do Rivendell elves really deserves such ...

Re: Journey Peril Rating and terrain majority

Ummm... I am not missing it at all. Path of Wisdom: Your proficiency bonus is doubled for any ability checks [...] Expertise: Your proficiency bonus is doubled for any ability checks [...] Known Lands: When you make Intelligence or Wisdom check [...] your proficiency bonus is doubled etc. All those ...

Re: Journey Peril Rating and terrain majority

Our highest level character, who often serves as the Guide, has a 17 for his Survival (plus 1d20). Correct me if I am wrong, but for purpose of Embarkation roll you cannot subtract from Peril Rating more than 8-9 (Hero's proficiency bonus [max +6] and half of his Wisdom bonus (+2 or +3 [Players Gui...

Re: AiME errata (price lists)

Errata in LMG p.155 changes price of rations from 120c to 60c per day Okay, but isn't even that better expressed as 5s per day? Way better, but Daisho was asking about errata, so I mentioned that this particular price was changed (even if 60cp/5sp per day is still daylight robbery). I agree that pr...

Re: Converting High Elves of Rivendell

Indeed, the clarification in LMG states that those weapons count as enchanted (or "magical" as the errata puts it, so I am not entirely sure that they are the same). Still I am not sure how to treat upgrades from the Lake-Town undertaking "Go to the market pool" from LMG. Errata do not mention them ...

Re: Journey Peril Rating and terrain majority

I don't think it's much more work, really. I agree, I said "a little more", not "much more" ;) Your method certainly supports more "cinematic" approach. You can plan events and match them with desired terrain. The only downside of this method is that certain terrains generate more events, but you c...
