Re: Cubicle 7 and Games Workshop announce new edition of Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

It is kind of interesting, the career system is what helped me sell WFRP to my current player group, as they were all used to D&D, GURPs and other systems in which your character is kind of "static" in its development. They find it challenging and that it provides goals for their characters to do th...

Re: Cubicle 7 and Games Workshop announce new edition of Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

Well, they will stick with the D100 system, that much we already know. And I for one wholeheartedly am happy to see the game stick with its root system, as the system is as much part of what makes WFRP have its own unique identity, as the setting does. What remains now is only to see how they tweak ...

Re: Cubicle 7 and Games Workshop announce new edition of Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

The core of TEW is good and solid, and it could be overhauled to keep the core story, while adjusting some of the weaker parts to better suit role-players of today. Because to be honest, it is still very much a result of late 80s/90s, and what role-players today expect from roleplaying games have ch...

Re: Cubicle 7 and Games Workshop announce new edition of Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

When it comes to Cathay/Nippon, for some reason I always envisioned the Warhammer eastern cultures to be basically what is portrayed in the roleplaying game Legend of the Five Rings. A mash of asian cultures, fighting against hordes of undead lead by an evil god, and against each other. I want to se...

Regarding Warhammer 40,000 RPG, I Just fond the information yesterday:

Yeah, I did see that. And it kind of made me sad. I really like DH/DH2. And I was hoping Cubicle would pick it up again, and continue the line.

Re: Cubicle 7 and Games Workshop announce new edition of Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

Yep, I hope I like the new system, but I really hope for new fluff and setting material that complements the existing stuff. If Cubicle7 is able to create a new sandbox / plot point / non-railroady compaign that rivals the enemy within that would be brilliant. As long as the new fluff / adventures ...

Re: Cubicle 7 and Games Workshop announce new edition of Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

No death in battle? Well that will make the slayers cry.... But on a more serious note. The high lethality in battle, is part of the setting. It is a Grim and Perilous setting, and without the threat of disease, maiming, insanity and death, well it is not so grim and perilous anymore. The fact that ...

Re: Cubicle 7 and Games Workshop announce new edition of Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

Despised colored magic? *scratches head* I love the magic system, and few players who have been wizards in my game have complemented it. 1st edition magic was quite a bit more powerful and versatile than the colour magic and the system of 2nd edition. It had also in many ways more "flavour" that su...

Re: Cubicle 7 and Games Workshop announce new edition of Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

Well, as far as I understood the news, it will be based on WFRP2. But that might also mean they start there and improve it. I agree with you on the half/half actions. Since in WFRP1 we had a lot more fluid, fun and creative combat encounters, simply because there was no such restrictions as half/ful...

Re: Cubicle 7 and Games Workshop announce new edition of Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

True, it is a matter of perspective regarding the attacks. But the staggered attacks are already in 2nd edition core rules as optional rule on page 130, if you want to use it. If they make it as optional rules like in 2nd edition I would be fine with that.
