Re: Rivendell Region Guide

What new stuff was released in TOR that might be in the AiME version? Curses for Legendary Weapons & Armor, and how to remove curses. The Witch-king of Angmar, Barrow Wights, Ghosts, High Elf PC's, The Eye of Sauron rules (journey complications for using too much magic), TOR Rivendell also added Le...

Re: Your Fellowships!

Well, I'm a bit sad that this topic didn't have the slightest success. I was really hoping we could share some plot ideas and, why not, use characters from each other's Fellowships as NPCs in our campaigns! Oh well, I'll keep lurking around. :) My group hasn't "named" their fellowship yet. I also d...

Re: Pre-order the Mirkwood Campaign now!

"Road Goes Ever On" has arrived in Omaha NE, and it is a thing of beauty.

Now I wait with bated breath for Mirkwood Campaign!

MASSIVE SNIPPAGE!!
Hope it helps
It helped immensely!
Especially the bit from Xanthanar's Guide - which is what I kept remembering from the old rules but could not find in the PH, DMG, PG, LM.

Thanks muchly.

Re: advice on exhaustion and rest on adventures

Try not to compare short and long rests from 5E D&D to AiME, as the standard version is not what is used. The default length in 5E is 1 hour for a short rest and 8 hours for a long rest. But AiME looks to the variant rest rule in the DMG for length. In the DMG, there is a "gritty realism" variant t...

Re: advice on exhaustion and rest on adventures

Exhaustion is gained as a consequence of failing certain Journey Events, and other circumstances in which the Loremaster deems that gaining a level of Exhaustion is warranted. The Journey Events state when a level of Exhaustion is gained (for example, failing A Fine Spot for a Camp causes the compa...

Re: advice on exhaustion and rest on adventures

I am also unsure how exhaustion works in relation to travel. I've been pretty much *hand-waving it* by saying that so long as they can get a "good" rest every day or three, then they can avoid exhaustion, but they gain none of the rules of a "long rest" unless they are in a safe place where they can...

Anyone in the US received copies of Mirkwood Campaign or Road Goes Ever On yet?

Re: Designing a weapon

I'm rather shocked in learning that magic weapons don't *have to have* any bonus to hit or to damage.

Will have to digest this concept some - probably over a bottle of Nelson's Blood (grins).

Magic Weapons with no to hit/damage bonus. Who'd have thunk-it possible.

Re: Designing a weapon

Perhaps we are having a terminology miscommunication. I was using vanilla not to mean “minor” but rather “uninteresting”. Like ordering vanilla ice cream at a Sweet Cow. +1/+1 wouldn’t affect tactics or decision-making or even add anything to the narrative. It would just...make the scholar statisti...
