Re: Converting MERP Levels to AIM/5e Levels for My Upcoming Campaign

One thing to remember - when looking at the "levels" of the big guys - is that the data provided is a snapshot in time. Thranduiel being 15th Level is what he is at the beginning of the campaign timeframe, namely 5 years after the battle of the five armies. What his level would be 30 years after the...

Re: Eafolc as playable culture

If I might suggest... Mindful of Danger - You have proficiency in Perception, and have a DC-15 Perception roll to avoid being caught flat-footed. Born on water - you have proficiency with water vehicles, and with Athletics (Swimming). Thanks for the proposal ; i like it :) being caught flat-footed ...

It's a lot more subtle and interesting than the usual murderhobo approach to problem-solving, huh?[/quote]
Our last game started with a 30min discussion about Shadow and Misdeeds, with my most frequent statement being "that's not being heroic in Tolkien's Middle Earth".

Re: Your Fellowships!

My group hasn't "named" their fellowship yet. I also didn't want to post to this thread until the players had agreed, on the chance that they might not *want* me to post their information. My group has a bit of the "League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" vs "Keystone Cops" feel, so I have named them "T...

Re: Fate of Goblin slaves - a moral dilemma

I have to say that this thread has had some of the most instructive and interesting discussion of both Shadow Points and the Misdeeds that can cause them to be earned.

My thanks to ALL !!

Re: Eafolc as playable culture

The Eafolc are the "Woodmen of Mountain Hall, pg 49 of the Rhovanion Region guide. Sorry, that is incorrect. The éafolc are the River-folk who ply the Anduin and gather and trade at Trader's Island. There should be a sidebar about them, maybe around page 10 of the Rhovanion Region Guide (that's whe...

Re: Fate of Goblin slaves - a moral dilemma

I would say that even for Hobbits and Dwarves, there would be no real moral quandary. Both have been attacked multiple times by orcs, goblins, trolls, and the like. It might behoove the DM in this situation to remind the players that there is a difference between Evil Men (who have been turned to ev...

Re: "Rumour of the earth" Wanderer feature

Any more insights on this?? :?: To piggy-back on Gilrohir, using the Two Tower's movie as a perfect example, refer the players to the scene in the movie where Aragorn has his ears to the ground and when he lifts up he says something to the effect of "their pace has quickened, they must have caught ...
