Re: Beorn and Viglund
Wasn’t one of the Nazgûl (the Messenger, I think) visiting Viglund a few years before the final battle? I would suppose, he corrupted Viglund with promises, fear or both.

Re: Shadow for killing innocuous orcs
At the end of the line the game is all about having fun. As there are different options towards the usage of shadow points among the LM it’s probably true for the players as well. The great thing about the TOR system is that it‘s rules allow a wide range of usage meeting the expectations of all kind...

Re: Shadow for killing innocuous orcs
If orcs slaughter free people they also gain Shadow Points. Which might be considered coequal to Hate Points. Not bad, from their perspective! But then: if orcs were redeemable they could also gain „light points“ while sparing the life of a foe. And therefore become weak. That’s why they never...

Re: Shadow for killing innocuous orcs
In my opinion, players shouldn't worry too much about their characters gaining a few Shadow points anyway. It's part of the setting that drawing closer to the Shadow is easy, and resisting it is hard. They shouldn't see it as a punishment, but as something that naturally arises from the drama, like...

Re: Shadow for killing innocuous orcs
But everyone to his liking. There’s no right or wrong. A LM should see how it fits best in their setting. Maybe I’m just not (yet) that tolkinesque than the most of you guys!

Re: Shadow for killing innocuous orcs
Gollum for me is another matter. And it is true, that the main characters only killed when necessary, at least I remember it this way too. There is a lot of room for pity and forgiveness in Tolkiens world. I also remember Gandalf on the stairs in Moria talking to Frodo about killing Gollum. But that...

Re: Shadow for killing innocuous orcs
Till now I never rewarded the killing of orcs with Shadow Points no matter the circumstances. To me, there is a everlasting war going on between the orcs and the free people. If orcs are met at the wrong place, they risk getting killed, no matter what they are doing.

Re: Finally have a group! Need some advice.
I’d also say Tales from Wilderland is a good start. That’s the way I did it. A group of 4-5 is perfect. Alternatively I’d consider Horse Lords of Rohan and Oaths of Riddermark . Oaths is a terrific set of adventures and my group liked them more than TfW. You need the additional Horse Lords book to r...

Re: Roll20 or Tabletop Simulator for ToR?
Is there a function to seek other players or do you have to form the adventurous group on other channels?
Also, as I understood it, there is no server hosting all fantasy ground games, the LM has to expose his/her machine to the internet and tell the others the IP address, right?
