Re: AiME printing differences.

Thats the answer - glossy in the States & matt in Europe & Rotw. I'm in Europe and have just acquired my Matt hardback of AME from a local shop.

Re: Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 4e

To be frank, I am utterly excited by this news and I do not think that 4e could possibly be in better hands! Well said, I share your same sentiments regarding the pairing of cubicle 7 and the WFRP license. I'm new to cubical 7's work. Just picked up AME (very impressed), but have also researched th...

Re: Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 4e

Yes I agree. The Careers are intrinsic to WFRP. I can't see a WFRP game without them. They brilliantly brought lots of colour to the old world with a different take on character progression. Great roleplaying tools. It might be nice to see a little more depth to each career, whilst still keeping it ...

Re: Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 4e

I think the success of D&D 5ed, points to the fact that you don't necessarily have to reinvent the wheel completly for each new edition to be a success. People like familiarity, with a little bit of innovation. WFRP 1ed managed this with its brand of dark fantasy. There were elements of Tolkien, Sto...

Re: Play styles: Adventures in middle earth vs The One ring

Just a quick update . I picked up a copy of AME players handbook from my local games store. I've glanced through it, and I have to say I'm very impressed. Quality is great, both in presentation and writing. Thanks all for contributing to this discussion, it helped to clarify my decision. The One Rin...

Re: Play styles: Adventures in middle earth vs The One ring

I actually think they both do a good job, but I think the AiME rules for Audiences work a bit better with a variety of checks as opposed to a series of the same check. With regard to journeys there are strengths and weaknesses with both. The group fellowship mechanics in tOR are better. Cheers - So...

Thanks.

So do players of AIME feel that it does a good job in retaining the feel & themes of Tolkiens writing? Or is TOR preferred in this regard?

Re: Play styles: Adventures in middle earth vs The One ring

How are courtesy rolls done in AIME? Watched a bit of a play through of TOR on youtube and the use of the word "Courtesy roll" for social interaction seemed very fitting & flavourful for middle earth. Is this a charisma roll in AIME? Are words & flavour like Courtesy encouraged in the AIME game? I c...

Yes, good to see the designers talking about the new books.
