Re: Cubicle 7 and Games Workshop announce new edition of Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

It might not be all about balance, but about focus Yes agreed, its the focus thats important in finding the right balance for a game like WFRP. I think cubicle 7 have already proved themselves expert in this regard, so i'll look forward to the results. As long as we don't have a cover crammed full ...

Re: Cubicle 7 and Games Workshop announce new edition of Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

Please don't categorise the regions based on their favoured method of warfare. Yes to take this further, I hope for a move away from the war orientated aesthetic of WFB. I found the 2ed WFRP cover too much in the WFB mould, lots of bodies war and killing with no where for the eye to rest, not quite...

Re: Cubicle 7 and Games Workshop announce new edition of Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

I always find the most joy comes when background information - whether it be races, locations, history - is best revealed through published scenarios and, preferably campaigns, rather than presented in its own sourcebook. That's one of the many reasons why The Enemy Within was so fantastic: you fel...

Re: Cubicle 7 and Games Workshop announce new edition of Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

Gnomes. We need Gnomes. Bring back Gnomes from 1ed. Its a roleplaying game not a war-game. Character is what matters. Gnomes bring more character & story telling possibilities to WFRP, and enrich the background. I can see many interesting uses of Gnome characters. From comic relief (useful as foil t...

Re: Cubicle 7 and Games Workshop announce new edition of Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

I'm curious: how many posters in this thread are familiar with or active on the Strike to Stun forums or the FFG WFRP forums? I'm new, periodically glanced at what has been happening to WFRP but not in any particularly active way :) I've not done any work on this, but my thinking is that both appro...

Re: Cubicle 7 and Games Workshop announce new edition of Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

I'm honestly not sure where I stand on this issue. But I think that one should consider that the old career system because of the way it was built allowed us to have lots and lots of choices. I'm guessing if we were to allow a new career system where you could stay with a single career it indefinit...

Re: Cubicle 7 and Games Workshop announce new edition of Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

What I see as the major problem in the career system (of 2e) is that you cannot, if you so want, stay at a single profession and progress as a character - that is, unless you're a mage or priest (or troll slayer) Yes, I agree with this criticism. It seems an common sense option to offer. It would m...

Re: Cubicle 7 and Games Workshop announce new edition of Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

Man, 1st Ed. Bretonnia sounds also like a lot of fun! Suddenly I wanted to put it into my home campaign! Maybe I'll make it a divided realm between monarchist revolutionaries supported by the magic and firearms of the Empire, against the nobles of the old, conservative feudal system, doomed to lose...

Re: Cubicle 7 and Games Workshop announce new edition of Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

Having only played 1ed, I find the concept of a Bretonnia more in the vain of pre revolutionary France more interesting from my roleplaying point of view. You still have this 2 tier class structure, the decadent nobles vs the peasant, but its set in an era that feels more high renaissance then medie...
