Re: Can you play without the Journey rules? (or can't figure out the rules ...help!!)

Just wanted to say thanks to Jon and the other participants of this thread. This is probably the most useful thread I've seen on this forum. At least for me.

Re: Wardens and Shield Proficiency

Well it looks like the version 2 of Eaves of Mirkwood has answered my question (Or at least provides a very reasonable alternate rule). Thanks Cubicle 7!

Re: Can you play without the Journey rules? (or can't figure out the rules ...help!!)

If you're worried about too much combat, then hand pick the challenges to fit the Mirkwood theme. Agreed. There is certainly nothing wrong with picking the challenges you think will be the most fun for your group. Of course for some the most fun is just to roll for it. Methods will vary form table ...

I've actually decided to treat it like the defensive duelist feat, +proficiency to AC as a Reaction (so one attack per round).
I like this approach too. Although, I understand why something like it wasn't used for AiME since that feat was not included in the SRD.

Re: Sindarin and Half Elves

Give yourself more credit; your interpretation seems to be absolutely correct. Likewise the children of King Elessar and Arwen (Eldarion and his sisters) all seem to be of Mannish persuasion from birth. Thanks for the validation! It still seems very nebulous though. For instance, I assume Arwen did...

Re: Sindarin and Half Elves

Not sure about Sindarin, but I would treat Half-Elves the same as their Elven parent, unless they choose to be mortal. At that point I am not sure if I would treat them the same as their Human parent or homebrew up some sort of in between rules for them. Without going to Tolkien's books to look it ...

Re: Wardens and Shield Proficiency

If you wanted to count instances, don't forget page 207. :) But, I'll say two words regarding Faithful Protector: Barding Swordmaster. I am not a fan of Barding Swordmaster. Having a character from one culture that is able to get +2 to+6 AC more than a character of another culture does not appeal t...

Wardens and Shield Proficiency

So does the base Warden get Shield proficiency or just the Herald? it's listed as a proficiency for the former on pg 86 of the Player's Guide, but listed again as a bonus proficiency for the latter on pg 90. I'd like to know since it changes the effectiveness of the Eaves of Mirkwood alternate rule ...

Re: *New LM* XP Rewards and Combat Scaling

See page 4 of Wilderland Adventures ... "A suggested level range is given for each adventure. These suggestions are based on a company with four members of varied skills." I plan on just using those suggestions as a milestone based system for the adventure. XP is a great tool for a Loremaster, but ...
