What's with all the penalties?

Hello All North Men Big Question : Not sure why there are so many penalties in this system? Combat Feats & Spells. Is it because there are no real limits to the feats in terms of use & how many spells you can cast? Might be house ruling removing penalties but instead introducing mystical backlashes ...

Staggered Weary Condition

So after several sessions that saw the fellowship battle spiders near the KIng's Hall, orcs on the elf path & a tough cave troll in Mountain Hall, our group noticed something.... Becoming weary as soon as Endurance dropped below fatigue was particularly detremental to success tests! No shit sherlock...

D.O.M : PC's Undertaking out of phase?

Hi all Having read a few times the adventuring phases in DOM, i have a couple of questions regarding 2 adventures in particular : 1.) Secrets Buried Just wondering if any Loremasters have experienced the fellowship marching off the Thranduils Halls looking for the traitor (Halbrech the wine seller) ...

Re: Combat Stances - a question

Yes it does help thanks! Just wondering why each combatant can't choose a stance irrespective of their opponents? Would this just complicate combat? But it does seem logical that if your Beorning takes forward & the cave troll takes defensive, you would both be fighting with different priorities. Ha...

Combat Stances - a question

So my query is this... hope this isn,t too stupid! When PC's choose their stances in combat do opponents fall into that stance also? e.g Do characters and their foes share the same TN's to be hit and hit? So it's not a case that the Beorning chooses forward & his cave troll opponent chooses defensiv...

Standing increase by Deeds?

I was thinking that a PC's Standing could also be increased by their deeds as well as expending treasure. Would perhaps be a little tricky to judge what deeds merit increases though. Seems to me that some cultures (e.g woodmen) would be less impressed by extravagant spending than by helping the comm...

Weaving in adventures in D.O.M

Having gotten hold of the Darkening of Mirkwood & planning on starting it, I was wondering : What kind of adventures have LM's been running in between the official sections? Would it be a bit lazy or awkward to just run them straight through? Should LM's strive to show the sweep of how Mirkwood fall...

Re: Intimidate Foe, a little too good?

First off, thanks for your input. Damn, had forgotten to distribute hate loss amongst foes; that would have made a hell of a difference! The combat in question involved a Marsh Ogre that had stalked and ambushed the party. I suppose with there being only a single opponent all the hate loss was direc...

Intimidate Foe, a little too good?

Hey all you free folk out there Couple of points to make about Intimidate foe manoeuvre 1.) A Beorning Warden in my group (Battle 3) has ‘Rinsed and Repeated’ this every fight he’s been in & drained the hell out of opponents hate. 2.) As a consequence many of the special abilities of foes cannot be ...
