Re: Redemption?

(...) So, has anyone had thoughts about how this could be facilitated in mechanical terms? Cheers Tolwen Hi Tolwen, I think this is a most interesting idea. And most thematic. I have no good mechanical suggestions at the moment, but your post brought to me one of most compelling scenes in The Darke...

Re: Reduced Hope for experienced Heroes

After a two month hiatus I'm back at my game, and to the question. I'll thank Mica for his points, but while I understand that the system as written isn't a problem for him, I found some problem in my campaign, hence this thread. The Heroes -all Men- are 25 years older. They have fought in another w...

Re: The One Ring / Vortex

I think that applying Vortex initiative to TOR would be easy. Probably it would modify the player's behavior (like it is designed to do): I would see it more for a game modeled on The Hobbit (where cleverness win the day more often than not), rather than in one modeled after The Lord of The Rings (u...

Re: Magic Items as Rewards

Going from memory there is the Coup of Friendship (or a similar name) in the last years of the Darkening of Mirkwood (you have to defeat one of big bad boss of the campaign to get it)

Re: Making It Personal (LM Help)

A minor suggestion: keep ready a piece of paper with a long list names. As you play, glance at that list and give a name to all NPCs they interact with. Because there isn't a "generic dalish weaponsmith": there is Gunnar . "Do I know him?" asks the player. And you invent something like "You know him...

Re: Is it me or is it all a bit quiet round here?

Do you think Cubicle 7 are up to something (in a good way hopefully), it just all seems to be a bit quiet round here at the mo, unless I am missing something? No upcoming products of LOTR, new upcoming products very light on the ground. Do you think some announcement of some description will be com...

Re: Just finished Darkening of Mirkwood last night...

PS: they harbor profound distrust for Gandalf. In their eyes, his meddling caused the destruction of Esgaroth, and it was only the valour of their King that saved the day. Saruman, on the other and, is a really trusty fellow... Does that really track though? Gandalf was away South when the company ...

Re: Just finished Darkening of Mirkwood last night...

(...) Curious, does that mean you played through the events of The Hobbit in 2941? How did your players interact with that tale? It is an all-Barding Fellowship, but we call them Dalemen, because... well, because Bard wasn't yet king at the time :) Anyway, they were Dalemen-in-exile living in the s...

Re: Just finished Darkening of Mirkwood last night...

Same here: I'm at 2960... and we managed to play just two sessions between november and now ( ). I think we started at the beginning of 2013. Sooo. Your first session started about a decade and a half after the fall of Arthedain and Angmar; and your second session ended at 2960? That must be...
