Re: "A hundred"

Admittedly, following the same formula, the rest reads: though . . . even for Hobbits . . . a hundred hot snakes . . . can still surprise you . . . . wait about seventy-seven years . . . or . . . about a hundred . . . hundred . . . hundred . . . hundred . . . hundred years hence. . . . Still--here's...

Re: "A hundred"

I can't believe the discussion here has been so sensible and stayed on point for so long--surely the only real take away from Jon's elaborate-ruse-of-a-post, in which he uses lines copied from LoTR arranged in such a way as to to compose an Elizabethan-style coded poem, is the following 'announcemen...

Re: Bree is available in PDF

This looks fantastic--not sure if something subtle has changed in printing, but looking very, very pretty to my eye. Also, the NPC sketches, which were funky in the PDF until just recently, so I hadn't seen, are also really good this time! Particularly like Anna Wintermoss and Matthew Mugwort. Coinc...

Re: New Region Guide Coming

Damn you're much cleverer than me. I'll note that down for next time. (Bwahahaa this is perfect misdirection - people who are aching to broadcast their opinions always assume they are the smartest guy in the room, so will be too busy with the assurance that their internal narrative is correct to no...

Re: Travelling rations

You're right--now I'm reading it again, I see what you mean. Some of the other market pool examples contain alternatives, which maybe threw me off. Your reading makes much more sense. Then I suppose we're back to the only benefit of cram really being it's longevity. I'm tempted to allow characters t...

Re: Travelling rations

I'm not really sure about my answer, but here it goes... ;) 1) I'd tie buying cram to some limited resource, like Treasure or a Fellowship Undertaking. Gathering herbs at the Long Marshes, IIRC, also grants some benefits that only last for one Adventure phase or similar. I wouldn't allow to buy cra...

Re: Travelling rations

Well, there's nothing special about cram. It's just a local form of what we used to call iron rations in D&D (and still do, for all I know). It's got no special properties except that it stores well for a long time. Purchasing cram should be no more difficult than laying in a supply of jerky or pre...

Travelling rations

Posted this on the house rules, but got 0 responses  :geek:, so posting here in the hopes of a little feedback. I haven't really gamed enough to get things like balance etc. when fiddling with mechanics, so this is really what I was looking for, and maybe it didn't belong in house rules. If the...

Re: The Road Goes Ever On

Since TOR doesn't award XP for fighting in the way 5e (optionally) does, nor uses the same journey system, I'm not sure how would that work. In the few place the rules can be converted for TOR, they will appear in future TOR material. But there isn't actually all that much that is relevant to conve...
