Re: Bestiary

I modified the Thing in the Well, I created the Mewlips, made additional Orcs stats, etc. I feel a lot like Morgoth when I say things like this    All sorts of undead, Crebain, ogres and giants, Nameless Things, and DRAGONS. I'd also just like to have more varieties of Orcs, ...

Re: The Eye of - Mordor

For the sake of this discussion you roll a nat 1 and by extension an Eye; how do you handle it? Correct me if I am wrong, but The Eye does not necessarily mean a failure (it just means something could go amiss with the roll). While a Nat 1 does indeed mean a failure. I don't see how they can be con...

Re: Cultural Heirloom Virtue

Expertise and Cultural Heirloom would be the only two that I would allow players to take more than once. I think I may restrict even those two to not be taken more than once. Expertise and Cultural Heirlooms should feel special. This is of particular concern to me since I'll let my players gain Ope...

Re: Shadow Items

IIRC, in the books, Morgul Blades turned to dust if sunlight hit them. Sorry, but don't they turn to dust after touching living flesh? When Aragorn touched the one that stabbed Frodo, it seems like it was almost dawn, but not quite. I guess it's hard to say if it has Aragorn's touch, or the growing...

Re: The Eye of - Mordor

You could do the same thing when a player rolls a "1" on the die. That seems like the easiest conversion. It would be slightly more rare, but still pretty comparable. Actually, this wouldn't work as there is a weapon quality (can't remember which) that allows a crit on a 20 and a 1. That would nega...

Re: Treasure??

Is it as simple as converting the treasure tables in DMG, changing the amount of gold into silver into copper? Yeah, I'd probably do something like that. But, D&D characters are pretty wealthy in comparison to what seems appropriate to Middle Earth. I might do some fraction of the treasure from the...

Re: Cultural Heirloom Virtue

Actually there are a couple you can take multiple times. One of the Rohan virtues gives you different features, so you can pick it up a couple of times to get them all. Not that it helps much, but still. I would say as many times as it seems reasonable. They should have a good plot reason to pick i...

Interesting that you managed to get both versions in one location. Copies for the UK/Europe/RoW were printed in Europe. US copies were printed in the US.
I'm just curious, which one is which?
