Re: Wild Adventure - Of Sword & Sacrifices

This is excellent stuff, did you ever write it up like you said? Definitely off to check out the rest of these Wild Adventures, they really capture something about the setting very nicely. Thank you so much Kirppu! I did write out the adventure for the most part, but some of it is still in outline ...

Re: Single-player Adventures

Mythic sounds like an interesting system. I wonder how it could be used with Tales from Wilderland or The Darkening of Mirkwood . Unfortunately, it has been forever since I looked at my single-player adventure, "Secrets of Lake-town." The last time I worked on it, I was hitting a wall in creativity ...

Re: Making Combat more Tactical

In regards to combat in TOR, I actually think it's the greatest and most fun among my games, including D&D, which I also enjoy (for those familiar with me, this isn't a revelation). There is a certain level of abstraction to the rules, but there is also some very specific structure too. In my opinio...

Re: Mythic Battles Revised

In last night's game, I used the Battle & Siege Resolution rules to test the use of Counterstrikes. Over the course of five assault waves that required 2 Endurance rolls each, a total of three Gandalf's were rolled triggering Counterstrikes. All three Counterstrikes were failed due to poor rolling, ...

Re: About to run my first adventure. Help appreciated

One of the most helpful things you can do for the players is to provide them with some of the basics at the outset. Explain: How to make a test/dice mechanics How to spend Hope How they become Weary and what it means How to invoke a Trait How to gain Advancement points What choosing a Fellowship foc...

Re: Is Rocket Age completed?

Lately, I've been wanting to revisit some old Edgar Rice Burroughs novels and I think that the Vortex system would work wonderfully for a game based on his Pellucidar series.

Vortex is also perfect for Indiana Jones. Good luck getting that license.

Re: The One Ring RPG – Player-heroes in Mass Battles

I recently revised Mythic Battles and I am looking for some feedback. You can find the thread in the House-rules forum here: Mythic Battles Revised, where we can carry on a conversation about it. You can also download the document from my blog site found in my signature.

Re: Wild Adventure - Of Sword & Sacrifices

Have you had a chance to name the dragon or work-up his background beyond what you've shared? :) Not yet! That is something I am hoping to do this week, at night, after everyone has gone to bed. If you have any ideas, I would certainly welcome your thoughts! I do plan on writing up an example of th...

Re: Lamp of Balthi poem

I like it! Editing note: capitalise "the Grey" in the first stanza. I may use this in my campaign when we get to it. I like putting these kinds of things to music. I feel this needs a folksy sound, perhaps made with an acoustic guitar, a flute, and a small drum. As a side note, I am encouraging one ...

Re: Poisoned

Being poisoned is not quite the same as being Wounded, but has the same effect until it is treated or wears off. Treating a poisoned character effectively is based on the type of poison. Once the poison has been treated, the effect no long applies, in the time frame determined by the type of poison ...
